Singapore. Faber Park
Faber Park, named in 1945 in memory of the British engineer Faber, is located in the southern part of Singapore Island, north of MRT Harbour Front. The route goes along the way of Mount Faber Road, which runs through the park, in the green of which there are a few houses that have been preserved from the time of British rule. From time to time there heard barking guard dogs. In the park there is a building of the Danish Maritime Protestant mission, which was built in the early twentieth century for the Danish sailors in Singapore. On the hill, which is called the Faber Point, is a viewing platform. It leads directly to the wooden track like Aqueduct, the family of monkeys climbs to lure visitors to the park.
With the platform overlooking the waterfront, Sentosa, the nearby residential districts of the city.
Continuing the path, you can get the cable car leading to Sentosa. But I decided to go all the route to the end, so did not use. On the way, my eyes caught two abandoned cabins, I do not know why they were there - either as exhibits, or simply wrong.
Around the end of the route is still the ruins of some boats, but it was dark, I did not find it. Came out of the park in the thick darkness, as the light at the end of the route was not. Twilight occasionally supplemented by fun barking watchdogs. Came out in the end there, where I started his own way - not far from the Harbor Point and Vivo City.

According to Warren's Kindersley Guide about Singapore, Bukit Timah - one of the two surviving rainforest in the world, which are in the city. On the map
The reserve is a forest with paved paths through it on routes of varying difficulty.
In the forest, grow various tropical trees with signs and reviews, and without ones,
live monitor lizards, monkeys (have seen), snakes (of the messages in the reserve)
butterflies
The reserve has a gazebo and racks with the designation area, at the entrance there is information office. Admission is free. Cards are not issued to avoid littering the territory. Feed the animals forbidden on pain of a fine.
Overall, a pleasant place for fans of easy walks, and for those who prefer to walk on steep trails. If you can not or did not plans to travel outside of Singapore in more distant jungle, it is the best. Monitor lizards are harmless, but macaques can be aggressive if they are worried from you (I got this in the path, the macaque-male, was walking towards me with a half-open mouth, as soon as I put the camera, he went off the road into the jungle, and there I saw their whole family ).
In the trees, chirping birds and cicadas. On the territory of the forest are two lakes with limestone cliffs.
In clear water of lakes swim turtles.
I do not know what it is, but to evoke thoughts of penalties for troublemakers of reserve (just kidding):
So choose the appropriate shoes. In sneakers Aisiks I felt safe, but if you have trekking footwear - take it. Otherwise you can leave your shoes there.

The Robertson Quay Hotel
Robertson Quay Hotel located on the edge of the central part of Singapore, between Clarke Quay and Boat Key.
On Web sites for booking hotels rooms can be found from just over $ 100. For example, the search engine Agoda Hotelscombined November 30 - December 1, 2012 gives us a price $ 123 with breakfast. In other days available also slightly cheaper, but not by much.
Location is convenient - to Metro Clark Quay walk 15 minutes by the waterfront - it is very nice, but you can take a taxi or take a bus, which has a stop near the hotel.
It was my first hotel in Singapore, so I started from there.
But in general so-so. The rooms are small, but I must say that at this price everywhere in Singapore are small rooms, breakfast so-so, and the Internet for fee (paid for full day, while it is necessary for short time). Nice pool.
Hotel Santa Grand Lai Chun Yuen (on the map) - one of the hotels of the Santa Grand network, located in Singapore's Chinatown (Chinatown). In the same area there is also Santa Grand Hotel Chinatown, literally next door, but I can not tell anything about it.
The only disadvantage of the hotel - no pool, as well as for some people can be inconvenient Chinese window-shutters - non-glass windows, with slots. Therefore, with a closed window in the room dark, but if the window is open - is the noise and music from Chinatown. But all subsides to 12.00 pm. So much for the superior room (superior), which costs about 95-100 sg dollars. Standard room is worth about of 80-85 sg dollars, it had no windows. And it is embarrassing - when you wake up in the morning, it is not understand at once - it is morning or still night. The breakfast at the hotel is good.
The interior is a traditional Chinese style, the levels of the rooms have a unique names - standard is Scholar, and superior - Warrior.
The main entrance of the hotel from the street of cafes, restaurants (Food street) of Singapore's Chinatown, so in search of dinner, no need to rush. But the breakfast better in the hotel, so as kiosks of street-food begin to open from 11 am.
The hotel has one more input / output - the "gray" - from the shopping street (where mainly sells souvenirs) of Chinatown.
The hotel is 5 minutes from the Metro Chinatown.

Singapore
I have been twice in Singapore. The first time, in January 2012, stayed there 9 days, the second time 6 days. Still have not visited a lot of places.
Virtually untapped I left the island of Sentosa, did not visite Pulau Ubin, Holland Village and Krathong. It would seem that the time was a lot. But sometimes it is necessary to study each attraction for one hour, and the terrain - a few hours and have no time left.
For both travel, I visited the following places: 1. Central waterfront Singapore - Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, Robertson Quay and Marina Bay of course. 2. The historic core of the city - Fort Canning and the adjacent building of the Parliament, as well as by nearby Raffles hotel and the World War II Memorial. 3. Botanical Garden. 4. The area of "black and white houses" - former British officials villas, built in the first half of the twentieth century. 5. Orchard Road. 6. East Coast Park. 7. Faber Park Point. 8. Bukit Batok - there is the Russian Orthodox Church of the Dormition of the Virgin. 9. Chinatown. 10. Bugis area to the mosque of Sultan. 11. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. 12. A small part of Sentosa. 13. Night Safari. 14. Bird Park. 15. Brewery "Tiger." 16. A small part of Krathong and Geylang.
Well, up to a heap of different sleeping areas, some central, where there is nothing particularly outstanding - Dhoby Ghout, Outram Park and others. Minus 2 days I spent on the trip to Melakku and shopping in Johor Bahru.
Stayed in different hotels: Robertson Quay, Santa Grand Lai Chun Yuen, Porcelain, W Singapore Sentosa Cove, Sheraton Towers. Details on hotels will write about their experiences in the selected themes. About Singapore in general talk, I think it makes no sense, because the information about the city can be found on the Internet freely. Therefore I will tell briefly about their experiences and discuss selected topics on a number of locations in Singapore, less than a well-known traveler promoted tourist attractions. Singapore I liked his grooming, cleanliness, friendliness and honesty of local residents, law-abiding.
Do not litter, no drink on the streets, no fighting on public areas. Feeling positive in a given city overflows, and thus, despite its small size, Singapore has a passion for all tastes.
